Foreign Minister and Kadima leader Tzipi Livni said Friday that she was against reaching a settlement with Hamas.
"I am in favor of decisiveness and deterrence, not an agreement," she told students at the Peres Academic Center in Rehovot. "Therefore, I said that the correct thing to do was to continue Operation Cast Lead, including the ground operations, and only to cease activities to test whether Hamas understands the seriousness of Israel's intentions - that we will not tolerate weapons smuggling or rocket fire."
"If it fails to understand that, there will be another operation if required," she continued. "I refuse to accept ingenious solutions that end with a settlement with Hamas."
