An academic paper handed in by a high-ranking IDF officer to the military National Security College included entire chapters from an MA thesis written by a student at Tel Aviv University, Israel Radio reported on Sunday morning.
According to the report, the Lt.-Col.'s research paper was published by the military college research center and the University of Haifa's Chaikin Chair in Geostrategy.
After the plagiarism was discovered, a hearing to discuss the officer's promotion was canceled.
In addition, the commander of the National Security College summoned the officer for a talk to reprimand him.
The officer admitted to the plagiarism, but claimed that he had mentioned the name of the student, now working toward her doctorate, in his bibliography and footnotes.
