Police arrested a 59-year-old Tel Aviv resident on Thursday on suspicion of distributing counterfeit Kadishman paintings.
According to the report, Menashe Kadishman himself approached police after he noticed that some of the prints in circulation looked odd to him.
An investigation revealed a gallery in Ra'anana containing numerous faux paintings supposedly signed by well-known artist.
The suspect, who claimed he hadn't known the paintings were fake when he bought them, was interrogated and brought for a remand extension. Police were still searching for the counterfeiter.
