46-year-old Tira resident Basem Khaskiye was sentenced Monday to 15 years in prison for causing death by negligence, Army Radio reported.
Two years ago, Khaskiye crossed a white line while attempting to overtake a horse and cart near Kalansuwa and ran into a couple riding on a motorcycle.
The couple died as a result of the accident.
