Masses visit Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai's tomb

Tens of thousands of people made the trip to Mount Meron Saturday night to visit the tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai for the public celebration in his memory in honor of the Lag Ba'omer festival. Some five thousand policemen and hundreds of MDA medics were deployed to secure the celebration. Some 300,000 people are expected to visit the tomb during the night. Bar Yochai, according to Jewish tradition, authored the Zohar, the basic text of Kabbala.
