Mazuz won't launch criminal probe into Bar-On double-voting scandal
By JPOST.COM STAFF
Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz decided Monday night not to launch a criminal investigation into Finance Minister Ronnie Bar-On over alleged double-voting in the Knesset.
In video footage from May 2003, Ronnie Bar-On, then a Likud MK, was caught registering his own vote and then leaning over the empty chair of fellow MK Inbal Gavrieli and voting for her, too.
However, Mazuz said that Gavrieli said in her testimony that she could not rule out the possibility that Bar-On had done so with her agreement and maybe even at her request.
The findings were handed to the Knesset Ethics Committee to determine whether Bar-On should be disciplined.
