Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz put an end to popular speculation Monday evening when, at a press conference held to discuss violence on the northern border, he announced that he would not leave the Likud Party.
"I have decided to stay in the Likud and campaign for the Likud chairmanship. I believe I have the necessary qualities to lead the Likud, and I believe that I can win," Mofaz said when asked if he planned to stay in the party.
"I came to the conclusion that the best place for me, for the present moment, and for the future, is to stay in the Likud," Mofaz concluded.
