Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz was due to receive on Thursday a report into a narrowly averted crash between an El Al passenger jet and an Iberia jet at Ben Gurion Airport a month ago.
The report, leaked Thursday morning to Army Radio, concluded that due to heavy traffic at the airport, three planes had been diverted to another landing strip that was not equipped with advanced technology that provides instructions to pilots during landing.
In addition, the report said, the Iberia pilot had failed to understand the air traffic controller's instructions, and accidentally crossed into the El Al jet's landing path.
