The Movement for Quality Government on Sunday called on the Civil Service Commissioner and the Minister of Justice to suspend Israel's
ambassador to Britain, Zvi Hefetz, in response to reports that he has been summoned for a second interrogation by Israeli police.
Hefetz is under investigation for involvement in a money-laundering scheme and has already been questioned once regarding his close ties with Russian
businessman and Ma'ariv
newspaper shareholder Vladimir Gusinsky.
Gusinsky is a suspect in the case.
Police believe Hefetz, who served as Gusinsky's representative in Israel before taking up the diplomatic post in London, may have been aware, and even possibly behind, allegedly illegal money transfers made into the Russian businessman's accounts.
