Responding to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's Wednesday announcement that he would not contend in upcoming Kadima elections, opposition leader and Likud chairman Binyamin Netanyhau called on Thursday for general elections.
"This government has come to its end, and it doesn't matter at all who heads Kadima," he told Israel Radio.
Netanyahu added that he believed Olmert had "done the right thing" by resigning, and noted that he supported putting together a national unity government after general elections, not before.
