NSC urges Israelis to evacuate Sinai immediately

The National Security Council issued a terror alert on Tuesday evening urging all Israelis to leave the Sinai peninsula immediately and to avoid any travel to the area. The alert warned that Hizbullah and Hamas planned to kidnap Israelis vacationing in the peninsula. The agency stressed that those already in Egypt should return immediately to Israel. Two terrorist attacks have already taken place in Sinai in the past year. One took place in Taba and Ras Shitan in October 2004, killing 36 people. Another 63 were killed in a July bombing in a Sharm e-Sheikh hotel.
