Sources close to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Sunday that Defense Minister and Labor party chairman Amir Peretz was "once again" acting without consulting Olmert by announcing his appointment of Labor MK Ghaleb Majadleh as the first Muslim Arab cabinet minister.
The sources complained that Peretz had announced the appointment as Olmert was leaving for a visit to Beijing, and had approached the media before he informed the prime minister of his decision, Israel Radio reported.
Associates of Peretz denied the allegations by Olmert's people.
