An IAF aircraft attacked a car traveling in the northern Gaza Strip on Monday, killing one of the most wanted terror operatives in Gaza, Palestinian officials said.
The Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) said Abu Said Qarmout, its leader in northern Gaza, was killed in the air strike. The PRC has fired hundreds of rockets into southern Israel, frequently sparking IAF air strikes and military reprisals. The group, which has close ties to Hamas, said Qarmout had previously escaped four other attempts to kill him.
The IDF confirmed it had attacked a "PRC activist."
Dr. Moaiya Hassanain, a Health Ministry official in Gaza, said two other people were wounded in the airstrike in Beit Lahiye, a town frequently used by Palestinian terrorists to fire rockets into Israel.
Earlier Monday, IDF troops killed two Islamic Jihad members and critically wounded a third during an operation near Jenin, Palestinian sources said.
The army confirmed that troops fired at three gunmen while operating in the village of Kabatiya and killed two of them.
IDF soldiers operating in the West Bank Sunday night arrested ten terror suspects.
Two were arrested in Nablus, three in Kalkilya, two were nabbed in the Ramallah area, and three were apprehended near Bethlehem.
All of the suspects were taken for questioning.
Meanwhile, Palestinians fired four Kassam rockets from the Gaza Strip into the western Negev Monday morning.
One rocket fell inside Sderot and the other three landed in open areas outside the city.
There were no wounded and no damage was reported.
