Patient's family allegedly attacked doctor

Doctors at Ziv Hospital in Safed will strike between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday to protest against a violence attack of a doctor by two relatives of a patient. The Israel Medical Association said that the relatives intruded in the doctors' room of the intensive care unit attached to the operating rooms. They dragged the physician outside and hit him brutally, giving him a concussion and requiring that he be monitored in the surgery department. The two were arrested by police. Dr. Radi Sha'ahin, head of the Ziv doctors' committee, said that his colleagues would halt work for four hours to show their anger over the attack. They called on the Health Ministry to implement recommendations of a report to halt violence against medical staffers that was released and shelved several years ago.
