Paz-Pines: Netanyahu election will risk Israel's ties with the US

Following the arrival of US Mideast envoy George Mitchell to the region, Labor MK Ophir Paz-Pines used the occasion to claim that the election of Likud leader Binyamin Netanyahu as prime minister would risk Israel's ties with the US. "Mitchell's mission, bearing in mind his success in Ireland, is testament to Obama's involvement in the peace process," said Paz-Pines in a statement. "The election of Netanyahu as prime minister is likely to lead to unending conflict between him and the Obama administration and risk Israel's most important strategic asset - ties with the US," he continued.
