Peres tells General Staff: The people appreciate you

President Shimon Peres visited the IDF's Kirya base in Tel Aviv on Monday and told the General Staff that he "spoke in the name of the people. The people appreciate you, and know how to accept sacrifices in a war for Israel's security."
IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi thanked Peres for visiting.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that the army deserved the people's support and praise, and said that it needed help to combat draft-dodging.
