Defense Minister Amir Peretz consulted Chief of General Staff Lt. -Gen. Dan Halutz and other top IDF officers following the incident between the IDF and the Lebanese Army on Wednesday evening.
Lebanese soldiers opened fire on IDF troops searching for bombs inside Israeli territory near the Lebanese border.
The troops returned fire with two tank rounds, apparently wounding several Lebanese soldiers after hitting their position.
