Postal company error causes bomb scare at President's Residence

The President's Residence in Jerusalem went on full alert Sunday morning after a mistake by the Israel Postal Company caused security to suspect a mail sack that arrived there could contain a bomb. The sack aroused the suspicions of the president's employees when they saw wiring and metal parts poking out of it. A bomb squad was quickly dispatched to the scene. However, it later became apparent that the sack was simply contained electronic equipment that was shipped to the wrong address. The bomb scare did not disrupt the meeting between President Shimon Peres and Defense Minister Ehud Barak which took place in an office on the far side of the building.
