Report: Squad commander dismissed after failing to fire at pursuer

A squad commander in the IDF's Mahane 80 basic training base has been dismissed from her position after failing to fire at a man who chased her in an apparent abduction attempt, Israel Radio reported Friday. During the incident, which occurred near the base in the beginning of the week, five men in a car offered the soldier a ride. When she refused three times, one of the men got out of the car and began chasing her. The soldier escaped into the base and reported the incident. Following her report of events, commanders relieved her of her duties, telling her that by failing to fire at the man, she had not acted as was expected of a soldier of her training.
