Shas decides to pull election ad

Shas has decided to pull one of its election ads following the ruling of the head of the central elections committee, Judge Dorit Beinish, on Friday that the promo violated the laws governing election propaganda by promising anyone who voted for Shas a place in heaven. Beinish asked the party to withdraw its ad, and said that if Shas did not comply voluntarily, she would enforce her decision. Shas head Eli Yishai condemned the decision, calling it "silencing Torah teachings." Yishai characterized the ruling as based on hatred and engendering the "destruction of Judaism." "The 'Thought Police' blocks Jewish content," Yishai continued, "But doesn't make any move to prevent Shinui's 'anti-Jewish' material," Israel Radio reported.
