Interim Justice Minister Meir Sheetrit told Israel Radio on Sunday that President Moshe Katsav might swear in Justice Dorit Beinisch as president of the Supreme Court on Thursday.
Sheetrit said that Katsav had offered to recuse himself from the ceremony, but that the Knesset House Committee had "complicated" matters. In the meantime, Sheetrit argued, Katsav - like any other citizen - is entitled to execute the duties of his position so long as he has not been proved guilty of the allegations against him.
