The Jerusalem District Attorney's Office announced on Wednesday that it plans to indict Islamic Movement leader Sheikh Ra'ed Salah on charges of incitement to violence and racism, pending a hearing to be granted him before the final decision is made.
The allegations against the head of the southern branch of the Islamic Movement have to do with an incident in February when he was arrested during rioting in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Wadi Joz to protest the construction of a new ramp to the Temple Mount by municipal authorities.
During a speech before hundreds of supporters, Salah called for "every Arab and every Muslim to help the Palestinian people launch a third intifada."
Salah was arrested on the spot, ordered to stay away from Jerusalem and prohibited from holding a gathering of more than eight people. He is already being tried on charges of rioting and assaulting a policeman during another incident.
