Suspected murderer hangs

A man jailed last week on suspicion of murdering his wife committed suicide in his cell in the Sharon Prison on Saturday, the 14th prisoner to take his own life this year. Prisons services officers on Saturday found Hamara Temisgin, 34, with a blanket tied around his neck hanging from the ladder of the top bunk in his cell. Attempts to revive him failed. Last Tuesday, a Netanya court had extended Temisgin's remand by six days, one day after he was arrested on suspicion of slitting the throat of his 35-year-old wife, Dehainesh Orly Temisgin, in their Netanya home. Temisgin then fled their apartment on Sderot Ben-Zvi, but was caught shortly thereafter. He denied the charges against him. Temisgin was not classified as needing special supervision and was placed in a cell with no other inmates. Police said Saturday the Prisons Service will investigate the incident.
