Tel Aviv court to discuss Omri Sharon appeal

The Tel Aviv District Court was expected to discuss on the Thursday the appeal of former Knesset member Omri Sharon, who was sentenced to nine months pending in prison and a NIS 300,000 fine a year ago. Sharon, son of former prime minister Ariel Sharon, admitted to gathering donations of over NIS six million to fund his father's election campaign in the Likud eight years ago. He also admitted to submitting a false report to the state comptroller. Sharon has claimed that in sentencing him, the court ignored the fact that he took responsibility for his actions and resigned from politics.
