A special border police force arrested Nasser Abayat, a top Tanzim operative in Halhoul, north of Hebron, on Monday.
Abayat was carrying a handgun when he was captured with two other Palestinian fugitives with whom he was hiding.
He is suspected of involvement in several terror attacks in the Bethlehem area, which killed at least two Israeli citizens.
