Two top doctors suspected of taking bribes

Police on Wednesday arrested the former director of the pediatric surgery ward at Sheva Hospital in Tel Hashomer, Professor Itamar Avigad, as well as the assistant director of the children's oncological unit at the hospital, Dr. Yoram Noiman, on suspicion of taking bribes. Israel Radio reported that the two allegedly took bribes amounting to 2,000 dollars from the family of a girl who was undergoing treatment for cancer. The two were brought before the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court for a remand extension hearing.
