Unemployment rights cut for discharged soldiers

Discharged soldiers will no longer be eligible to receive unemployment benefits immediately following their release from the army, Israel Radio reported on Tuesday. According to the report, a soldier will only become eligible for such benefits one year after their release, and only on the condition that they were unemployed for the first six months of their post-army life. Officials in the Defense Ministry slammed the decision, arguing that instead of helping soldiers, the government is damaging their rights.
