University tuition fees to go up 6% next academic year

Treasury officials on Tuesday told members of the Knesset's Education Committee that the government's share in university tuition fees would diminish by 6% in the upcoming academic year, leaving students to make up the gap. In the past couple of years, the government's share has grown to 26% of each student's fees and the treasury claimed that this year, it would go back to its original 20%. In response, Student union representatives have said: "the Treasury has tried incessantly to hurt Israel' student population. We, as student representatives cannot allow this to happen and will act with all our might to prevent this from happening or have it canceled."
