Oni Halaby, a 40-year-old construction worker who fell 14 meters while on the job and was saved from death by a Magen David Adom team recently, surprised the MDA station in Acre on Tuesday by walking in on crutches with his wife.
Halaby had suffered a severe head injury, tore his lung and was injured in all parts of his body.
Medic Zaid Halaby of the Yarka branch treated him first and then was joined by paramedics Amos Dadon and Yuval Sabag who rushed to the site in a mobile intensive care ambulance. They gave him an advanced drug, stabilized him and then took him to the trauma unit at Western Galilee Government Hospital in Nahariya. He is now able to walk with crutches.
The MDA staffers were very moved by his gesture and his thanks for giving him a new chance at life.
