A group of ultra-Orthodox women have launched an English-language website dedicated to the victims of the Hamas massacre, allowing anyone from around the world to send condolences to the families of those who were killed on October 7.
The website includes most of the names of the more than 1,400 Israelis who were killed, with a few sentences of information, the date of the funeral, and the date of the shloshim, a month since the funeral, as commemorated according to Jewish law.
Jews and Israel supporters around the world can send condolences or messages of support to these families, and search them according to their background.
A project by Orthodox women
This site was promoted by a group of ultra-Orthodox women Chesed Shel Emet initiative, a project that epitomizes the very essence of compassion and outreach in times of tragedy.
The initiative was conceived and brought to life by three ultra-Orthodox women who recognized the stark need to connect willing volunteers with families who have lost loved ones in the conflict. Operating out of a central hub in Jerusalem, the team consists of 25 women and girls who work tirelessly in shifts.
Their task is to ensure that information about funeral schedules and mourning visitations is accurate and up-to-date, facilitating around 3,000 volunteers in seven WhatsApp groups to provide support where it is needed the most.
“These volunteers, who are spread across the nation, bring comfort to the homes of the grieving, helping to fill the void where mourners are needed and providing immediate assistance according to the families' needs,” a statement on behalf of the organizers said. “The initiative has been met with heartfelt gratitude by the bereaved, who feel a sense of solace and community support during their most challenging times,” they added.
