Ben-Sasson hopes to present constitution soon

A controversial government bill to give the Knesset power to override Supreme Court decisions on the constitutionality of specific legislation will not get preferential treatment in the Knesset's Law, Constitution and Justice Committee, Committee Chairman Prof. Menahem Ben-Sasson has told The Report. The Knesset committee has been working intensively on a new constitution for the past four years. Ben-Sasson says he can now see the light at the end of the tunnel, and hopes to be able to present Israel with a full-fledged constitution, including a chapter on judicial review, by its 60th anniversary next May.
