Police arrested two teenagers early Sunday for spraying graffiti on the Anne Frank House and several other buildings, a spokesman said.
There was nothing to indicate the graffiti was racist or anti-Semitic, police spokesman Leo Dortland said.
"They were 'tags' - kids leaving their calling cards," Dortland said. Cleaning crews were removing the graffiti Sunday morning.
The 16- and 17-year-olds, neither of whom has been charged, are suspected of spraying graffiti across a photo exhibition and nine houses, including the canalside house where Anne Frank and her family hid from Nazis for 25 months in a secret annex during the Nazi occupation of World War II.
