Hungary to sign declaration against hate speech

The Hungarian Parliament will sign a zero tolerance declaration against hate speech and incitement against minorities, Hungarian officials said Tuesday, as the country marked Holocaust Remembrance Day. "We know that anti-Semitism and racism paved the way for the Holocaust, the most inhumane event in our history," Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany wrote in the manifesto. "This memorial day does not just recall the victims, but those who stood idly by," he added. The memorial event prompted a rare show of unity among fractious Hungarian political parties.
