A Russian state prosecutor demanded on Monday that Alexander Koptsev, accused of stabbing eight people in a Moscow synagogue earlier this year, be sentenced to 16 years in prison, a Russian news agency reported.
Koptsev's indictment took into account that his act was "motivated by ethnic or religious hate."
A psychiatric evaluation determined that Koptsev was sane when he attacked the synagogue's congregants, despite his suffering from what was diagnosed as schizotypal personality disorder.
