The Dead Sea Mall is to be the first VAT-free mall outside Eilat

For the first time in Israel (other than Eilat): a VAT-exempt mall for everyone.

The millions of foreign tourists visiting the Dead Sea, and also Israeli vacationers, will now benefit both from exemption from VAT (Value Added Tax) and reimbursement of VAT – an unprecedented bonus in Israel.

As of Sunday, April 7, the Dead Sea Mall will also become a VAT-free mall for Israelis, enabling all vacationers in the Dead Sea region and the South to enjoy the VAT revolution and the lowest prices in Israel for brands such as Boss, Pandora, Armani Exchange, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and other luxury brands.

When the project gets underway, the mall will offer a VAT reimbursement counter for tourists – for the first time in Israel – to allow some 3 million tourists who visit the Dead Sea each year to save time at Ben-Gurion Airport and receive reimbursement at the special counter.

As of April 4, Barclays is initiating a financial subsidy for foreign residents and Israelis alike, creating equality and uniformity among the shopping public, who will all benefit from a discount in the amount of the VAT when buying goods at the Dead Sea Mall.

According to attorney Hagai Adoram, representing Barclays, developer of the Dead Sea Mall: “The company has already initiated the unique, first-of-its-kind step in Israel of setting up a VAT reimbursement counter for tourists in Israel.

“Now, it is continuing along the same path and has introduced a much larger-scale [subsidized] measure – a ‘VAT-free mall for everyone.’ Both tourists and Israeli vacationers will now be exempt from paying the VAT component when shopping in the Dead Sea Mall,” he said.

“In fact, this will be the first mall in Israel outside Eilat where shopping will be VAT-free.

“Furthermore, the many foreign tourists visiting the Dead Sea will enjoy a double bonus. They will be exempt from paying the VAT [which is a subsidized measure], and they will also be entitled to a VAT reimbursement, which has no precedent even in Eilat.”

The Dead Sea Mall project is one of the most original and prestigious commercial ones ever carried out in Israel. It is built on 15,000 sq.m., with two commercial floors and around 100 stores.

The mall was built at an investment of NIS 3 million. Beyond the outstanding architecture and the environmental attractions that come together in the mall, a particularly exclusive mix of tenants has been chosen in order to meet the needs of over 2.7 million people – more than half of them tourists from abroad – who annually visit the Dead Sea, which was a finalist to be one of the seven new Natural Wonders of the World.

Among the tenants of the mall are: Boss, Armani Exchange, Polo Ralph Lauren, Columbia, Pandora, Timberland, CK, Tommy Hilfiger, Paul & Shark and many other well-known names.
