The 16th annual Poetry Festival in Metulla will take place this year during Shavuot, bringing to the quiet northern pastoral town dozens of poetry readings, concerts, screenings and other family events. Among the major events are a musical tribute to Haim Guri on his 90th birthday; Etti Ankri (pictured) with a tribute to Yehuda Halevi; and Shalom Hanoch in a special tribute to the great Yiddish poet Abraham Sutzkever.

FOLLOW THE TOUR
Soprano Enas Massalha will take listeners through her musical world in a performance at the Museum of Islamic Art tomorrow at noon. The Arab opera singer will be accompanied by pianist Yael Karret.

As part of Tel Aviv Dance 2013, the Suzanne Dellal Center premieres a mixed program featuring three works by four emerging choreographers – Idan Forges, Nadav Zelner, Zvika Iskiyas and Shiri Capuano Quantz. GO FOR BAROQUE
The biannual music festival in Abu Ghosh returns during Shavuot with a host of concerts in the large Kiryat Ye’arim church and more intimate concerts at the Crypta Church in the village. Among the highlights of the festival are Dutch countertenor Maarten Engeltjes, with the Barrocade Ensemble and Israel Golani in a program of Baroque music (Tuesday at 3 p.m. and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.). The Quinta Prophets vocal ensemble from Basel will perform a program of madrigals and psalms on Saturday, May 18, at 3 p.m.

The New York-based Harlem Ballet Theater returns to Israel as part of the company’s never-ending world tour.
The Harlem Ballet performs a repertoire of classical and contemporary ballet, mixed with its unique Afro-Caribbean rhythm. The dancers and teachers of the company will also give master classes in various places around the country.
