ART A rare opportunity
The rare Botticelli fresco The Annunciation (1481), on loan from Uffizi Gallery in Florence, is on display at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, for a limited time in honor of Israel’s 65th birthday. The Annunciation is a rare example of a composition in linear perspective created for a liturgical purpose.MIXED
A moving event
More than 70 artists will join forces for one evening in an art event to raise funds for the construction of a special-needs park in Ramat Hasharon.
The Artakdim event will take place in the Ramat Hasharon industrial area. Among the artists who volunteered are Sigalit Landau, graffiti artist Know-Hope (in the photo) and Boaz Arad. There will also be live music and theater performances, ad-hoc cafes and much more.

Light and humanity
The Austin Ballet brings Stephen Mills’s Light/The Holocaust & Humanity Project to Israel. It is a full-length contemporary ballet and Holocaust education partnership that promotes the protection of human rights against bigotry and hate through arts, education, and public dialogue. It premiered in April 2005.

The Israeli Opera opens its new season with a production of Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin, performed by the New Opera Moscow. Dozens of singers and dancers, as well as top soloists, will perform this majestic opera for the first time in Israel. A free lecture for ticket holders will take place one hour before each performance.
The singing is in Russian, with Hebrew and English subtitles.

The Weimar-Jerusalem Project Orchestra, a joint undertaking of the Weimar and Jerusalem academies, will perform within the framework of Berlin Days. The program is a story in sound, dedicated to the history of Jewish composers in Central Europe from the end of the 18th century up to the Holocaust.

Solo Performance
The Jerusalem Soloists Orchestra will debut with two concerts, in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Conductor Arkady Berin and solo clarinetist Giora Feidman will perform a varied program of short pieces, including many by Israeli composers.
