It’s the story of a stubborn young girl who hires a tough US marshal to help her track down her father’s killer. 2. 9000 NEEDLES At the age of 40, Devin Dearth, a successful businessman, father of three and champion bodybuilder, living the “American dream” in Kentucky, suffered a devastating stroke which paralyzed his right side and left him unable to walk or care for himself. The film follows his unconventional journey to find treatment in China. The trials he and his family endure along the way remind us that the human spirit can transcend any boundaries while exploring a universal community of healing and transformation. 3. THE ARISTOCRATS Edna Mazya’s play about an Israeli family during the first years of the state. The father, Yair Ben-Cnaan (Gil Franck), is devoting himself to building the army and is unaware of the needs of his family. VOCALDENTE Visitors from Germany, the renowned Vocaldente a-cappella ensemble, are here as part of the “A-Cappela in the Museum” concert project, which presents international top ensembles at several locations around the country. 5. FAST FORWARD A rare opportunity to discover Misa Shimomura, a composer-improviser from Japan, who will perform in the Studio- Salon 22 in Jaffa. Shimomura, a multidiscipline performer, is known for her many projects with film-makers, contemporary dancers, painters, sound artists, poets, DJs, Kyogen performers (Japanese traditional theater) and musicians from around the world. 6. BIG AND SMALL The Haifa Orchestra, together with the Moran Choir, presents the great composers as small children in a concert with works written for kids. 8. HAPPY HOURS While most markets close as night approaches, the Farmers’ Market in the Tel Aviv Port heats up every Wednesday. As soon as the potatoes and carrots are packed away, in comes the music, the alcohol and lots of good food. Sheri Ansky serves up her delicious herring sandwiches, the new (and excellent), Tortuga tapas bar has new creations every week, Delicious deli offers meat dishes and the pasta stand has fresh Italian dishes. But no party is complete without lots of cheap alcohol, and there will be plenty of drinks at very special prices.
