Hotel enlargement plans approved

The Local Planning and Construction Committee has approved plans to expand Herzliya's Dan Accadia hotel over the next 10 years from its current 200 rooms to become the biggest hotel in Israel with 1,325 rooms, reports www.local.co.il. But at least one city councilor, Greens faction member Dror Ezra, has already objected to the plans, saying the construction would entirely block off views of the sea along Rehov Ramot Yam. According to the report, the committee approved the expansion plans at a full hearing last week. In the initial stage, the hotel would expand north along the beach on land currently occupied by the hotel's tennis courts, and would become two eight-story buildings. In the next stage, a 17-story building would be constructed south of the hotel. Eventually, the hotel would cover 38 dunams of beachfront land and would be the biggest hotel in Israel, with 1,325 rooms. The report said that before being allowed to go ahead, the plans would need to be approved by the Interior Ministry's Beach Preservation Committee and by the District Planning and Construction Committee.
