The AHAVA Association, for animals in need, is desperately asking the public for help in the campaign to save hundreds of abandoned dogs and cats in Sderot. AHAVA volunteers have already gone to the Kassam-ravaged town in order to distribute food for pets that have been abandoned by their owners, who left Sderot temporarily or for good.
According to a press release, "AHAVA urgently needs donations of pet food for dogs and cats in the streets of Sderot, as well as volunteers to help save lives."
Thus far, the association has taken in four dogs and 21 cats that have been abandoned in Sderot and the surrounding area, but there are hundreds more waiting to be rescued.
"The association never puts animals to sleep, and only if animals are adopted will more room become available to shelter and feed the abandoned cats and dogs still in harm's way."
