'Toy Soldier' shoots down the competition in Hollywood

A movie made by Haifa high-school students has won first place in an international student movies' competition held in Hollywood recently, reports www.local.co.il. The movie A Toy Soldier (Hayal Tza'atzua), which deals with the dilemmas facing a young man about to be conscripted to the military, was made by students in the cinema and media stream at Haifa's Ironi Hey high school. According to the report, the prestigious competition sees cinema students from around the world gathering in Hollywood for three days of screenings, workshops and lectures. A panel of judges chose A Toy Soldier over hundreds of other movies. School principal Kobi Zamir expressed satisfaction with his students' win, and said the movie was unique in its high quality and in the way it grappled with the issues facing young people before their military service.
