Train passengers complain of overcrowding

It looks like a scene from a third-world country - people so crammed into a train that women with babies find themselves on the stairs and men crowd into the toilets for lack of a place to sit, reports www.mynet.co.il. But it is in fact the Haifa-Tel Aviv train on a typical Saturday evening, and passengers say they have had enough of the overcrowded conditions and the accompanying noise, mess and discomfort. "It is like this every Saturday," one disgruntled passenger said. "The train cannot cope with the load. There is no place to sit. People stand for the entire two-hour trip because they let the elderly people sit. It is most shocking to see a mother with a young child sitting on the stairs and suffering every time the train stops." The report said no response to the complaints was received from Israel Railways.
