Books go online in university project

Ra'anana's Open University has embarked on a precedent-setting project to showcase its library books on the internet, where they can be read free by students and the general public, reports www.mynet.co.il. So far 42 complete books used in 10 different courses have gone online, as have numerous presentations, lesson plans, summaries and sample tests. According to the report, the Open University has about 5,000 registered students in Israel, mostly from the center of the country, and the website is registering 300 visits a day. The report said that this is the first time an academic institution has decided to place complete books on the internet and to allow any user to access them free of charge.
