Hod Hasharon police have announced there has been a dramatic 29 percent fall in the level of crime in the city this year, reports www.local.co.il. Hod Hasharon police chief Amos Tza'ada presented figures to the city council showing a significant drop in crime in the city in the first part of 2009 compared with the same period last year. According to the report, the police figures showed a 50 percent drop in the number of break-ins to homes, a 50.5% drop in the number of car thefts, a 29% drop in the number of illegal squatters, a 21% drop in the number of break-ins to cars, and a 13% drop in the number of break-ins to businesses. A municipal spokesman said the figures reflect increased activity by the city's security department working with police, which had included night work to prevent property crime, vandalism and violence, and to increase road safety and deal with traffic accidents. Some 20 police work at the Hod Hasharon station.
