Kfar Saba's Meir hospital will acquire a new children's medical center by the end of 2008, reports Ha'ir-Tzomet Hasharon. Hospital managers have decided to build the new center in order to gather all the children's departments and clinics under one roof, rather than have them scattered throughout the hospital as they are now. A new children's emergency room, funded by donations from South American Jews, was recently inaugurated at the hospital and will form the cornerstone of the new center.
According to the report, hospital manager Dr. Asher Elhayani says that while the hospital has excellent doctors and medical facilities, the conditions for in-patients "do not match these high standards," and management has decided to give the children better conditions. He said this includes centralizing all the children's facilities and clinics in one new building, with its own separate entrance.

He said that as well as having all the medical facilities under one roof, the new hospital will be "colorful and rich" with bathrooms of a high standard and beds for parents who wish to stay with hospitalized children. The spokesman added that most of the money for the improvements is being raised from donors overseas.
