300 mourners gather in downtown Baghdad for priest's funeral

About 300 mourners have gathered in central Baghdad to attend the funeral of Father Youssed Adel. The 47-year old Assyrian Orthodox priest was killed Saturday by gunmen as he returned home from the market. The killing underscores the dangers facing the Christian minority in this predominantly Muslim nation. The priest's wife, Lamia, carried her husband's portrait Sunday as the procession entered the church. Police deployed dozens of armed officers to protect the service. They blocked off nearby streets and searched all those entering the Peter and Paul Church.
