Two drones fell in the Khurmala oilfield in Iraqi Kurdistan, the Iraqi Kurdistan's counterterrorism service said in a statement on Monday.

Khurmala oilfield is located near the Iraqi Kurdish city of Erbil.

The Iraqi Security Media Cell, an official body responsible for disseminating security information, said in a statement that no casualties were reported and only material damage was recorded.

An investigation into the incident was launched in coordination with security forces in Kurdistan, it added.

On Tuesday, a additional explosion halted production at the Sarsang oilfield, also in Iraqi Kurdistan, two oil engineers told Reuters, and was later stated to be a drone attack, Iraq's Natural Resource Ministry said.

No casualties have been reported, and operations were halted as a precautionary measure, the engineers said. Firefighters still trying to put a fire, they added.

Residents said the explosion was caused by a drone, and images appeared to show an object on fire falling from the sky.
