The UN Security Council will convene on Wednesday night to discuss Israel's attack on Doha, Qatar, AFP reported early Wednesday morning.
The emergency meeting comes at the request of Algeria and Pakistan.
"There will be no immunity for terrorists - neither in Gaza, nor in Lebanon, nor in Qatar. The Algerian ambassador chooses to cooperate with Hamas and provide them with a tailwind from within the Security Council," Danny Danon, Israel's ambassador to the UN, responded to the announcement.
"Israel will not shy away and will continue to act decisively against the terrorist leaders wherever they are hiding, until the hostages are returned and security is restored to our citizens."
Israel's strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar
On Tuesday afternoon, Israel Air Force jets carried out a targeted airstrike on Hamas officials in Doha. The aim of this attack was to assassinate several key figures of the terrorist organization's leadership, though it was also said to be retaliation for the Tuesday terrorist attack in Jerusalem that left six dead and over 20 people wounded.
Key targets the strike aimed for included Khalil al-Hayya, Khaled Mashaal, and Zaher Jabarin, each of whom played vital roles in the organization's five-man leadership.
They also played important roles in the negotiation teams for talks to reach a ceasefire and hostage deal.
Hamas confirmed the deaths of five officials, including Hayya's son, but the deaths of the main targets have not been confirmed.
While Israeli officials praised the attack, it was met with widespread condemnation internationally, with the UK, France, Canada, the Vatican, Japan, Germany, Turkey, Italy, and the UN all putting out statements against the strike.
While the US was made aware of the attack in advance, US President Donald Trump expressed remorse and said it was a unilateral decision by Jerusalem.
