Iran executed an individual accused of spying for Israel in the Qom province of Iran on Saturday, according to the Iranian judiciary news agency, Mizan.
Mizan reported that the individual, an Iranian national, was suspected of being in contact with a Mossad agent and engaging in "intelligence collaboration" with a "foreign hostile government" beginning in October of 2023.
He reportedly confessed to transmitting information to Israeli websites before being sentenced to death.
Iranian anti-espionage crackdown
This is the latest incident in a wave of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps attempts to crack down on suspected Israeli espionage.
On September 29, Iran executed a man named Bahman Choubi-asl after he was also accused of having Mossad ties.
Mizan claimed that Choubi-asl was "one of the most important spies for Israel in Iran" prior to the execution.
On Wednesday, two French nationals were sentenced in an Iranian lower court after being accused of spying on behalf of France and Israel, after being arrested in 2022.
Cecile Kohler and her partner, Jacques Paris, were each sentenced to over 30 years in prison, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.
