A delegation of senior Hamas officials met in Doha on Wednesday with the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council to discuss regional developments and the condition of the war-ravaged Gaza Strip, Palestinian and Iranian media reported.

According to a statement by Hamas, Muhammad Ismail Darwish, chairman of the group’s Shura Council, led the delegation in talks with Ali Larijani in the Qatari capital.

The statement said the meeting focused on the situation in Gaza amid what Hamas described as continued Israeli attacks on the coastal enclave and “international silence and inaction.”

Darwish presents assessment of Gaza 'humanitarian crisis'

Darwish presented what the group characterized as an assessment of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and accused Israel of violating ceasefire provisions. He stressed that Hamas remains committed to implementing the agreement and to preventing a renewed outbreak of fighting.

The head of the Hamas Shura Council expressed solidarity with Iran, condemning offensive actions against the country. Such actions, he said, promote regional instability.
